Dr. Jennie Hart to Speak at Resnik Luncheon
The 31st Annual Resnik Luncheon, sponsored by the the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Harford County, will be held at the Harford Community College’s Chesapeake Dining Hall on Saturday, April 22 at 11:30 AM. AAUW will recognize eleven high school junior, all young women who have been recommended for this honor by their individual schools because of their outstanding academic success in the math and science fields.
Dr. Jennie Hart, a superior math and science student while at The John Carroll School in Bel Air, will share with the audience the roads that she has traveled to become a Doctor of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Presently a Fellow at the University Of North Carolina School Of Medicine, this summer she will start her position as an attending physician in pediatric hematology/oncology at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.
For some, working with young kids who have life-threatening illnesses would be such a difficult experience. But Dr. Hart sees it differently. “I chose pediatric hematology/oncology because the patients are so inspiring and the diseases are fascinating.” She goes on to state,” This specialty combines my love for science and patient care. There is no one more resilient than a sick child. They teach us so much about living and make us want to work harder. I often fear that my patients give more to me than I can give to them, but accompanying them on their treatment journey is the most rewarding experience.”
Dr. Hart, daughter of Eva and Bill Hart of Fallston, received a B.S. from UMBC, Magna Cum Laude, was awarded a Doctor of Medicine from the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine and was appointed Chief Resident there in 2013. Since 2014 she has been a Fellow at UNC School of Medicine.
