The American Association of University Women was founded in Boston in 1882 for the purpose of increasing educational opportunities for women and to enable women to utilize their training. The local branches exert thoughtful influence in the many activities which comprise the Association program.
Members of AAUW are graduates holding an associate, baccalaureate, or higher degree, or their equivalent, from a qualified post-secondary educational institution.

The Legal Advocacy Fund supports the protection of the legal rights of those women who are facing discrimination.
