On Friday, September 26th, I will be making one of my weekly rounds to pick up fresh organic eggs, raw milk and pasteurized dairy products, bulk grains, flours, beans, seasonal produce, cut flowers and potted plants and baked goods direct, or nearly direct, from Amish Farmers.  It just happens to coincide with “Doughnut Day” at the Seven Springs Orchard Farm!  There will also be pumpkins and mums for sale at reasonable prices. A good time to get ready for Fall decorations.  

I have been exploring this area on a regular basis for the past few years after finding several sources for my baking and cooking needs.  It’s a beautiful ride with a great payoff.  In addition to restocking the pantry and fridge, the scenery is stunning and we have enjoyed getting to know the farmer and their families.  A number of members have expressed an interest in visiting some of these locales, and we will set out to learn more about what’s available in Southern Lancaster County (Home of Sherman, from the book “Running with Sherman.”) Let me know if you are interested in joining us and we will coordinate a meeting place to swap notes pre-excursion and post.

 

 

 

 

Day Trip to NYC- April 2, 2025

Members of AAUW- MD, Harford Branch were joined by members of the Anne Arundel and Kensington-Rockville branches, friends and family to the United Nations for a private Focus on Women tour. The group learned about the history, mission and vision of the UN and the significant contributions of women to the work of the UN on Peace & Security, Human Rights and Development. We  also toured the Tenement Museum learning about the lives of women in 1902, the kosher meat boycotts, street vendors and food markets, finishing with a tasting at The Pickle Guys.WIGS_Amish Farms
