AAUW Harford County Branch Members – I want to tell you about all the great activities weare planning for our branch members!
CHAPTER MEETINGS
First, our Zoom meeting this January featured the author of Children in the City of Czars, Irmgarde Brown. Book club members had just discussed the book the prior Saturday and 16 members joined the Wednesday meeting to hear about the author’s experiences with writing
and publishing and to ask questions. It was a great meeting.

In February, we haveanother Zoom meeting featuring the Furaha All Girls’ School in Kenya. The school director is working on a video for us. I hope many of you will attend that meeting on Zoom, February 19 at 7 PM. Watch for the link in your email prior to the event.
Your Board members have been working on various projects. Please read on –and please provide input where requested!!!
- The Annual Resnik Brunch to honor the top high school junior female in a STEM course in each of our public schools will be held on Saturday, April 26 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 pm. at Harford Community College. This event is one of our biggest and most successful events of the year. Please email Maureen North (mnorth417@gmail.com)to let her know that you will attend the brunch. The cost this year will be $25. You may send her your check prior to the event or pay at the door. If you send a check prior to the event, please make it payable to AAUW, Harford County Branch with Resnik Brunch in the note area and send to: Maureen North, 300 Sparta Court, Bel Air, MD 21014.

NYC BUS TRIP, APRIL 2, 2025
- We are planning a trip to New York City on Wednesday, April 2, and we need to know about your interest in this trip! Estimated cost begins at $85, which includes bus transportation and a driver’s tip, with drop-off and pick up points. A United Nations tour entitled Focus on Women, is expected to cost $20. Then a visit to the Tenement Museum would cost $45-55, depending on the area selection. Another option would include a walking tour of the tenement neighborhood combined with a focus on foods of the area. For those who wish to explore NYC on their own, whether to see a show, shop, or visit sites, we will work with you to provide round trip Abingdon-NYC transportation and tip only. We need to know your interest in this trip, so please share with friends, those who are AAUW members AND those who are NOT. - Walk a Mile in Her Shoes – are you interested in joining other AAUW members at this event on Saturday, April 12? You’ll need at least one sponsor to join the group. Watch for information from Theresa Freligh, to be coming soon.
- Our AAUW Branch continues to support Dr. Sean Bulson and the Harford County Public Schools by attending the school board meetings. We have two members attending each meeting and are covered until and including Feb. 24, 2024. If you would like to attend a meeting, please let me know what date you will be attending. The following dates are open, each for two individuals: All meetings are held on a Monday – March 10; March 24; April 7; April 28; May 5; May 19; June 9; and June 23. Email me at sheilahcc@gmail.com
